Who Is The Jewish Messiah?
Who is the Jewish Messiah? Where is He? How can we describe Him? Is He God Almighty? Could He be Jesus Christ? Can a Jew believe in Jesus?
All of these questions can be answered in the Jewish Bible, the Tanakh and the New Testament (Jeremiah 31:31). If a Jew or a gentile is sincere in his heart and wants to know the truth, the Lord God of Israel will help him.
If a Jew truly believes in the Lord God of Israel, he will believe His prophets. If he believes His prophets and believes His Word is true, then he will believe the scriptures. All the scriptures point towards the Messiah and tell who He is.
Daniel's prophecy in Daniel 9:25 is amazing! He wrote, according to the Spirit of God, the time that the Messiah would come. Daniel wrote that the Messiah would come and then be killed (cut off) before the destruction of the last Temple. The Temple was destroyed in 70 AD by Titus!
Psalm 22 is written about the crucification of the Messiah! Several translations state that... they have pierced my hands and my feet. Read it! In Isaiah 52:13 and 53 he also writes about the crucifiction of the Messiah! 53:5 states... But He was pierced for our transgressions... Zechariah 12:10 states that... I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on ME whom they have pierced, and morn for HIM as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. The Masoretic Text only translates Zechariah 12:10 as pierced. However, one should study the Septuagint and the Dead Sea Scrolls for the usage of pierced.
Isaiah writes in 7:14 that the Messiah would be born of a virgin and would be God with us! Isaiah also states in 9:6 that the Messiah is the Mighty God!
The original Christians were Jews who believed Jesus was the Messiah. They believed He was the Mighty God of Israel, the 2nd person of the One Triune God. The Trinity is mentioned many times in the Tanakh...
In the beginning of the Jewish Bible, in the very first sentence of Genesis, it is written...In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. God in the Hebrew is Elohim which is a plural form.
Look at the plural forms in Genesis 1:26 where God said...Let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness...
In Deuteronomy 6:4 the famous SHEMA is written...Here O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. In Lord (Adonai) and in one, the Hebrew is plural.
In Genesis 19:24 the Bible states that...The Lord rained down burning sulphur on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of the Heavens. 2 persons of the one God? The Trinity!
Again in Isaiah 9:6 the Bible states...For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God... This passage and many others point out that the Messiah is the Mighty God of Israel.
So if a Jew believes the prophets of Israel and if he searches the scriptures himself, he will see the solid evidence that Jesus is the Messiah, the Mighty God of Israel.
